As a friend of Greene’s, Gekoski, writer and a major figure in Antiquarian Books was responsible for Greene’s archive and given access to his private library in Paris.
The Labyrinthine Ways is the American edition of The Power and the Glory, Greene’s best book.
Set in Mexico in the 1920’s during the Cristero Wars , it tells the story of the pursuit of redemption by the unnamed priest now known as ‘the whisky priest.’ Greene’s lifelong struggle with Catholicism underpins this extraordinary novel.
