Gullón became a very well known Hispanist in the U.S as a Lecturer and Writer on Spanish Literature.
Cela, Nobel prize winner for Literature in 1989 was and still is a controversial figure in Spain. His two novels “The Family of Pascual Duarte” and “The Hive” are seen as Modern classics but his own lifestyle and association with the Nationalist cause in the Civil War leave opinions divided.
