Original red cloth, titles to spine gilt, top edge yellow, map endplates. A few stains to boards, light spotting to edges. An excellent copy in a bright jacket with some minor toning and minor chipping.

The spine is in gilt lettering and the map endpapers are in yellow.
In 1938 Greene was commissioned to visit Mexico to discover the state of the country and its people in the aftermath of the brutal anti-clerical purges. His journey took him through the tropical states of Chiapas and Tabasco where all the churches had been destroyed and the priests driven out or shot.
